So last night (or yesterday morning?) I dreamed that I got to see a preview of the latest Pokemon game, and talk to the creator of the series. Well, the preview was kind of a virtual reality... I guess that's my brain's attempt to represent the move further into 3D or something that's happening with Black and White. All we really did was walk around the areas of the world that had been put together so far - it was currently bereft of trainers and other NPCs - and chat.
He asked what recent changes to the series I liked, and what I wanted to see. I said that I liked the way important/boss trainers animated and spoke during battle now, and that I'd like to see more customizable player characters. Particularly, a female PC who can actually wear pants. It's true that that's a bit of a peeve of mine, but I'm honestly kind of surprised I didn't start ranting about HMs instead. XD; I remember at one point I found an item on the ground. It was visible, but the graphic was glitchy, and although it came up on my itemfinder I couldn't pick it up. I pointed it out, and creator-guy was all annoyed because they'd been repeatedly trying to debug that item and thought they'd gotten it right.
But the most interesting part was the setting. Idunno how many of you guys have seen, but the screenshots we've seen from the upcoming Pokemon Black and Pokemon White so far depict a city far more urban than we've previously seen in the games. It was this city I was in - a sprawling, pristine, but silent metropolis. The weather was perfect, it was late afternoon, and that time of year when summer is dying but it's not quite fall, when the seams of the world seem just a little loose and strange things leak through when you're not looking. That time of year. The late afternoon was that time when the light hits everything at sideways angles and seems to lounge across trees and buildings and roads as if it'd melted there and gotten stuck.
And somewhere in the center of the city were ruins. Beneath the steel and concrete and glimmering new highways, overgrown and abandoned and forgotten, the city's shed shell. You could go there. We did. It's the kind of place that feels strange to be in because you're there, in an alley that no one looks at anymore, and you feel like it's staring back, perplexed. The birds look at you uneasily, and crickets hop right onto your knee because they weren't expecting you to be there. I climbed upon a ledge and remarked that I liked this, being able to explore the hidden nooks and crannies of the world without need for an HM. (Oh, whoops, guess I did kinda mention them. XD; ) I was surprised they put such a place in the game, and very happy to see it as well. It was incredibly serene.
...Except after that the dream sort of degenerated into a weird Doctor Who-esque steampunk adventure thing. I don't even know. It was fun, but that part, that place just stuck with me and I figured I ought to write it down before I forget.
I bought some new games today too. One of them was Gungrave, which I'm mostly trying to decide if it was a more amusing or disappointing experience. It's pretty damn cool up until you realize that the lock-on function sucks, the camera sucks harder, and there is no map. And enemies tend to be really friggin' hard to see at times. The cutscenes are all Japanese voicing with subtitles though, which makes me some ridiculous amount of happy you don't even know. Wtf self, way to give a game bonus points for weird things... Eh, well, maybe I'm just bad at that kind of game anyway. But I still think the camera sucks (and is not easy to adapt to. I've adapted to wonky cameras before - see my obsession with Baroque.) Regardless, you all know how easily I am lured by badass undead guys, I'm sure.
...Yup, I can still really tl;dr when I want to.

So. I've been thinking.
Anyone who knows me knows I regularly go through intense fits of obsession with various things. Sometimes completely new things I've just stumbled across, sometimes old old fandoms I've been in for years and have somehow experienced a fierce rekindling of my love for.
'Scuse me if I type sentences that don't make much sense, by the way. It's late. I'm tired. I stay up too late every night on the internets. But hopefully you understand what I'm getting at, and if not, feel free to razz me about it. :P
Anyway, my point is (no, not dolphins) that new fandoms are awesome, and so is nostalgia.
Particularly when they're unexpectedly combined. Nostalgic new fandom, an oxymoron, you say? I think not. It tends to happen, you see, when you weren't even aware that you loved that random thing from your past that much, nor were you aware that it was part of a still-surviving series.
I know I'm talking to the wind here, but has anyone else ever heard of Simon the Sorcerer?
( Blah blah blah swamp stew blah blah. )
You know, I think I had a point in there somewhere, but it got lost halfway through... oh well, hope you enjoyed my babbling.

So I'm sure I'm not the only one wicked excited about Heart Gold/Soul Silver... well, okay, I know I don't post often so I'm sure this is WHOA FRIENDSLIST SURPRIAZ for some all of you, but I'm somewhat annoyed now and want to whine to the big open void that is the internets. So here I go.
( Cut for massively tl;dr WHINEWHINERANTWHINE, you have been warned. ) Oh another note entirely, I need to make more icons for my poor neglected personal account here. Derp.

So it took like twenty minutes this morning for the memory of what the hell I dreamed about last night anyway to kick in, but good lord. Only MY subconscious would decide that Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro and Problem Sleuth belong in the same dream clip, I'm telling you. >_>;
I guess Neuro doesn't like competition much or something. Eh, he was pretty OOC in the dream anyway.
Anyway BLAZBLUE TODAY EEEEEEEEEEEEE

I always turn my computer off BEFORE remembering that I wanted to post about something. *headdesk* I swear that's half the problem...
ANYWAY went to the ol' Game Exchange again today, had another awesome chat with the dude who works there Sundays. (He's like older than my dad, but he loves games and has very similar tastes to mine. o3o) Haul of the encounter came out to:
-MediEvil II (hellz yeah!) -Lufia and the Fortress of Doom (I've had Lufia II for a while now but not this. Which is... both weird and fitting, since II is actually the prequel...) - Kid Chameleon (s-shut up, it looked like the eptiome of dorky 90's games okay I HAD to buy it!) -Phantasy Star II -Kirby's Avalanche BOXED, COMPLETE AND SEALED wooooo! It has Kirby and Dedede playing with puyos on the box guys it's adorable :D
I almost got another copy of Silhouette Mirage too... they had a copy that was the disc art of Hal, and I have the Megido disc! Collector... urges... rising... but I wound up not getting it for lack of money. >: I'm already gonna be short for picking up that new Devil Summoner game this week, now... and anyway now someone else can own and play the awesomeness that is Silhouette Mirage, ahaha.
Incidentally, I've had that old Dinotopia PC game on my brain all day. Dunno why, just have. I miss it! I have the strategy guide and everything so its devilish point-and-click ways are not so difficult to navigate to me, but like... I ALMOST beat it once a million years ago. ALMOST. I would have, even, except one of the characters got FRICKIN' STUCK on a ladder at the VERY END of the game and prevented me from proceeding. Aksdhglakhskldhfks! I should see if it's possible to beat it into working on something. >_>; I've got a desktop with Vista and a mostly-dead laptop guys, yeah, that'll work REAL well...
*cough*
My sis has been hogging my PS3 because apparently I was right thinking she would like Folklore. >_>; But on the upside I've been playing WoW with her again, yay! She and a friend of hers started some new Tauren chars on my server, so I started a character to play alongside them with - an undead warlock.
Yes, I know, I'm insane. But I REALLY wanted an undead warlock. I-it's not THAT bad trekking between Tirisfal Glades and Mulgore all the time... although I somehow wound up several levels above them, whoops. >_>; Bad Io.
Regardless, I'm tickled pink by the fact that I'm a freakin' undead warlock of all things hanging out with a Tauren hunter and a shaman and doing all the Tauren low-level quests. I even got an appropriate haircut. HIPPIE ZOMBIE WARLOCK XD;;;;
...yeah okay I'm getting my ass to bed now.
SUPER EDIT ACTION BECAUSE I'M AN IDIOT:
I know I'm a little late on that but I can still be excited right?

I know I'm just sorta babbling to myself here, but...
It never fails. It absolutely 100% tried-and-true never, ever fails.
I'm playing some awesome game where my character has some sort of super mode. Through the whole level I'm building the gauge for super mode, telling myself "Okay, now when it MATTERS, don't forget you have super mode! Don't forget, don't forget, don't forget!" And then I get to the boss. And then I'm all "OMG OMG FIGURE OUT ITS ATTACK PATTERN OH CRAP THAT HURT WAIT I THINK I KNOW ITS WEAKNESS" and... I completely forget about super mode.
And then I JUST BARELY win, and I'm all "Whoa, that was rough!" and THEN I remember about super mode.
...
*headdesk* EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. How the fuck did I ever manage to beat DMC guys srsly.
(Folklore kicks ass though.)

So yesterday I picked up MadWorld, Avalon Code, and, because it was on the shelf and taunting me and I seem to have a weak spot the size of Manhattan for the series, Phantasy Star Portable.
No, I guess I couldn't just wait for Zero and yes I know I didn't like PSU that much. Shut up it has Casts and I don't have to play through 20935780293 hours of story before getting to make my own goddamn character. >:
I reserved Zero while I was there though. :D
ANYWAY. I haven't played MadWorld yet because lol RPGs are shinier. So on the other two.
( So the world's ending and you have to decide what the new one will be like... wait, where have I heard this before? )
...oh hey it just occurred to me that maybe having elements on the brain is why I had that crazy Digital Devil Saga dream last night. Derpaderp.
ANYWAY tl;dr, Avalon Code is annoyingly rough around the edges, but still worth playing. Now, about finding that strategy guide...
Oh, and I turned on PS...P (har har, I see what u did thar, Sega) and messed with the character creation for like an hour, then got frustrated by my own indecisiveness and shut it off. XD; WAT CHARACTER SHOULD I MAEK, GAIZ? >:

Ah, well... I'll try in any case. An entry a day! Just me babbling to myself and maybe the odd actual other person because srsly some of these wayward thoughts and listless phrases oughta get an outlet sooner or later.
I had a sucky day from suckland but I really shouldn't go on enormous rants this spectacularly late and right before bed sooooo have a dorky meme I found instead.
( Fandom Sins Meme! ) Anyway, I think I've already chewed the ears off of almost everyone who still follows my decrepit journal about my latest obsession... so that's about it.
I got new flannel sheets! They're red. I'ma go sleep in 'em now. :D

I live! I LIIIIIVE! Well, okay, I've been talked into actually making an attempt to use LJ. Again. Some. I guess. But aside from that, I actually DO have stuff to talk about that isn't retarded angsty crap, thank god. (This bloody journal needs a makeover.)
Okay. So. I know it's already midweek, but last weekend I took a semi-spontaneous 7-hour drive with Aaddrick up to visit an old high school friend. ( It gets a bit long... )
I think I'll stop talking about the trip now cause I really need to get to bed here.
On to TODAY! *insert fanfare here*
( Today! )
Blah blah blah. Anyway, that brings my game collection to this, since I've never posted it here before:
( Game list of DOOM )
So one task remains. That task is the Naming of the PSP! As, uh, maybe a few of you might know, I name stuff. Lots. And I've decided that it shall be TRADITION!!1 to name Sony systems after parasitic/symbiotic shadowlike characters who appear in games on any one of those systems. My PS2 is named Eddie, after the shadow beast from Guilty Gear.
For the PSP, I'm faced with the only other two characters I can think of who fit that retardedly specific description I just gave up there. XD; They are:
-Nrvnqsr Chaos from Melty Blood. (Yes, there were a few PS2 games.) He's less a shadow-thing and more a living mass of pure chaos, but hey, close enough. He would be this dude. And in case you were staring at that mass of consonants up there and wondering, it's phonetically spelled/pronounced "Nero." :P
-Evil King Stan from Okage: Shadow King. Stan is so hilariously awesome and I love him to death. Self-proclaimed evil demon king who winds up spending most of the game possessing the main character's shadow? Very yes. X3 Stan would be Mr. Tall, Dark, and Jack-O-Lantern'd looming goofily behind poor Ari here. Or at least that's his shadow form. I don't really have time right now to go digging up any hard-to-find pictures of his true form... most of what you'll get would be Japanese fanart anyway.
So eeeeeh tell me what you guys think. Whichever one I don't use for my PSP I'll probably wind up using for a PS3 when I eventually deign to get one, since I plan on keeping Eddie around just in case.
OTHER NEWS! Forming a DnD group with some peoples! Talked Jon into letting me be half-Drow because I like doing crazy things. 8D It's gonna be a ride and I'm SO EXCITED. <33
My room is a total mess.
I think I have more crap to ramble endlessly about, but I'm sure I've already killed everyone with text and I need to get some damn rest. (It's a Red Bull or three for me tomorrow, I can tell you right now...) So there. I'm not typing anymore. Really, I'm not. I mean it. Okay? Okay. Good.
...I need more icons.

Thinger from Raine! <3
- Think of an animal that you wish you could be. Now write down 3 adjectives that describe that animal. - Think of your favorite color. Now write down 3 adjectives that describe that color. - Think of your favorite kind of river. Now write down 3 adjectives that describe that river. - Think of yourself being surrounded by white light. Now write down 3 adjectives that describe that feeling.

Sidenote to Raine: I kinda consider red my secondary innate color... :o The alternate to my blue, the completion of the duality. <3

LIEK OMG TOTALLY NEW OBSESSION WITH NEW ICON HUUUUR.
Font used: Hero Of Fools
I think this is the awesomest icon on the face of the earth.
But seriously, why do I bother making the things when nothing happens even when I post here? Mrgh.
Think I'm gonna draw some Joe x Alastor slash and break someone's brain with it. That should make me feel better. The continued silence from the VJ guild on Gaia that I applied to certainly isn't.
The only other VJ fan I know is never online when I am... I'm gonna forget all the things I want to talk about. I mean... the game has bloody seven freakin' fanfics on FF.net and I've read the three good ones already. There are no fansites. I know I like odd, obscure, underappreciated things, but you'd think when I put in effort to pursue the fandom of something I'd get even a tiny bit in return... *sigh*
Why do I feel so alone even now?

So this morning I turn Ebony on and to my horror my laptop charger no longer works.
Wonderful timing for the Gaia Halloween event, huh?
Frantic, I whined and griped about it and then called Radio Shack, and they had an adapter that will work on my lovely Thinkpad T40. So I go down there, they test it, and lo, it worketh. The Io is happy.
Then the Io sees the clearanced Gamecube bonus pack sitting on the shelf. Io could not resist.
Yes, tis a Gamecube. A black GC, to be precise. It came with two controllers (one regular one and a seethrough, glowy Afterglow controller), a bonus arcade game collection (Sinistar!!!), two controller extension cords, a link cable (I CAN USE SONIC ADVANCE WITH SONIC ADVENTURE 2 NOW. WOOT.), and disc protector cases, which I will probably never use, but they're nice to have.
I chuckled when I took it out of the box and found that the area with the controller ports on the front was a rectangle of blank grey-white against the black.
I named it Scriabin. <3 And now to mortify it with Gorillaz stickers!!
Oh, and I just discovered that my new adapter/charger/whatever has a pretty shiny blue light on the brick. <3 <3 Peeerfect for Ebony. Hopefully this one will last me more than two or three years. ^^; (It better... since it's designed to work with like any chargeable electronic device in existence...)
